These festivals are run by enthusiastic licensees or charities such as local Round Tables, but are very often supported by the local branches of CAMRA. For details of official CAMRA festivals, click here.

We do not always get to hear about such festivals until they've almost happened. The list below consists of festivals in and around our local area, i.e. those that would be feasible for a day out by train bus or pushbike. Thursday 26-Sunday 29 January Thornbridge Taps Guest Fest at 3 Thornbridge Brewery pubs in Sheffield. The Greystones, Bath Hotel and Hallamshire House – together will be showcasing up to 100 guest beers with a theme at each venue. The Bath Hotel will be featuring beers from Northern Monk and all things Yorkshire; The Hallamshire House will be hosting Siren Beers and all things Southern with the Greystones offering beer from Hawkshead Brewery and various other breweries around the UK. Bus 83 will get you to the Greystones and bus 95 to the Hallamshire House. The Bath Hotel is just off Glossop Road – the University of Sheffield tram stop is close by along with buses 6, 52, 52a, 95, 120, 271, 273 and 274. Friday 27-Saturday 28 January Veganuary Beer Festival at The Woolpack Inn, 6 Fawcett Street, York YO10 4AH, an all-day minifest of vegan beers with a free vegan buffet. Suggested frequent bus 66 from train station or follow the city wall as far as the Barbican.

Friday 27-Saturday 28 January sixth annual Winter Real Ale and Music Festival at Beamish Hall, Stanley, County Durham DH9 0YB, a Best Western Hotel transformed into one of largest real ale pubs in the region for one weekend only with over fifty real ales, ciders, perries & flavoured gins. Friday Doors open Friday 18:00-00:30, with live music 18:30-midnight, Saturday 15:00-00:30 with live music from 15:30-midnight. The event is for over 18’s only, limited car parking available on site. Friday 21-Sunday 23 July Scarborough Seafest Maritime Festival, seafood lovers descend on the mini-food festival held as part of Scarborough's maritime heritage celebrations. Sample the food stalls and enjoy free seafood cookery demos in the Seafest Food Theatre with leading Yorkshire chefs, plus the Great Yorkshire Brewery hosts a real ale and beer festival with over 40 local real ales, beers and ciders.

Saturday 22 July Third Sausage and Beer Festival on the Camphill Estate, new home of the County Show between Carthorpe and Kirklington some 8 miles south of Bedale and adjacent to the A1. Feed your faces with some of the finest bangers and beers produced in Yorkshire. Live Bands. Up to 20 local butchers supplying samples of their finest sausages, A sausage making demonstration and a variety of different ales to buy throughout the day so there will definitely be something to tickle everyone's tastebuds! Not only that, there will be plenty of things for the kids to enjoy with a bouncy castle, face painting and even a dog agility course that will be fun to watch for all of the family.
