The Nook Brewhouse

visited by Wakefield CAMRA, Saturday 20 February 2010

First brewing in 2009, run by brother Ian Roberts and sister Sheila Sutton, a brewer and brewster partnership from the start, it's located in a custom-built three floored brewhouse, actually taking up the footprint of a long vanished Eighteenth Century brewhouse, behind the Rose & Crown (Nook) pub in this busy tourist honeypot. Located in a conservation area, it has been sympathetically constructed with used local stone.

Sheila Sutton is brewster. You can see her wellies on the web album.

Her brother Ian Roberts is brewer. All the brewing vessels except the conditioning tanks in the cellar are newly fabricated in stainless steel. On the web album linked to this page you can see how necessary a hoist is to the operation. At www.thenookbrewhouse.co.uk you can see the current beer range.

More pictures of the brewhouse and pub, at higher resolution, can be seen on this PicasaWeb Album
