WAKEFIELD  CAMRA VISIT TO DENT BREWERY

Dent Brewery's beers have long been amongst the firmest favourites of our local branch. Several times a year the hardiest among them use the Sttle-Carlisle Railway then hike 4 miles to Dent Village to sup the beers as close to the brewery as possible.Back then we noticed how seriously close to the end of its useful life much of the brewing kit at Cowgill was. Boss Martin Stafford told us of his intention to move the brewery shortly to a level and more accessible site, perhaps in the nearby small town of Sedbergh. This did not actually come to pass. Since our visit the brewery has actually been sold to Paul and Judith Beeley (Spring 2005), with Paul Goodyear as brewer. Spanking new plant has been installed and Judith and Paul tell us that there's much more scientific quality control but the beer range is still in the same vein and still includes our old favourites. The branch has an invitation ( which we hope to take up soon) to visit and savour all the changes.
