4 May 2007

The Wear Valley Brewhouse at rear of the Grand Hotel. Note malt sacks from Fawcetts of Castleford. The plaque on the wall shows the original brewery logo which was blessed by the Bishop of Durham.

Inside the spanking clean brewhouse, Ian Jackson indicates the hot liquor tank, the copper and the mash tun. It's a four barrel plant supplied by Porter Brewing, installed in former stables - note the groovy floor!

The two blues which are Wear Valley's cask banding reflect the fans' name for Bishop Auckland FC.

Simon Gillespie, co-founder of the brewery. It's one of those photos for which readers are usually invited to suggest captions!

Simon has evidently attempted a ramraid on the Grand Hotel. Note the new brewery logo which many folk have likened to Batman.
